A Day of Merrymaking 2016
From the OvertonPark.org website:
It’s back! Overton Park Conservancy’s family festival, A Day of Merrymaking, will return this year on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Bring the whole family to the park’s Greensward for a day of entertainment, fun activities, and delicious treats presented by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. And new this year, we’re excited to host a beer garden custom-built by our awesome landscaping contractor and stocked with beer from Memphis Made Brewing Co.!
We’ll have music, food trucks, local vendors, a water slide, bungee run, Bubble Ball, an art adventure station, and much more. Hollywood Feed will be on hand with all kinds of fun for the dogs to celebrate the fourth anniversary of opening Overton Bark. And the centerpiece of the event will once again be a hot air balloon that floats you above the park for a bird’s-eye view (tethered safely to the ground, of course!).
Suggested donation for this event is $5, which benefits Overton Park Conservancy.
Parking and Traffic
Free shuttle service from the Overton Square garage (2100 Monroe Ave.) will be provided by FedEx. There will be three buses, stopping about every 20 minutes from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Traffic in the park will follow a one-way configuration for the duration of the festival. Click here for a map and description of traffic patterns.Old Forest Lane will be closed starting the morning of Friday, June 3 for setup, and it will re-open at the conclusion of the festival.
What If It Rains?
The festival will be held rain or shine except in the event of thunderstorms or lightning. Keep an eye on this page or on ourFacebook and Twitter accounts for information about the festival.
